New House Garden

This is the paddock behind the house that I’ve just turned into vege garden. It’s about 450 square metres so should provide plenty of space to grow all the veges we are planting at the moment. I started using a walk-behind rotary hoe. Fortunately it broke down and I ended up getting a tractor-mounted cultivator from the hire place. It was much easier going and did a great job of breaking up the soil.

I’ve broken up the soil to a depth of about a foot so the veges should have an easy start. Here I’ve scraped the path out between the beds and used the soil to build up the beds. The beds are 1.4m wide and the paths are 60cm – just big enough to get a wheel barrow down. You can see the marker line for the next bed.

Wow! Nice work John, I can see why you needed the tractor. You’ll be eating well this summer.
